Contest Rules

Official rules

The collection of pledge contest entries begins at 12:00pm PST on April 4, 2016 and ends at 11:59pm PST May 31, 2016 (the “Entry Period”). Three (3) winners will be selected by the BC Water & Waste Association (BCWWA) within thirty (30) days after the end of the Entry Period.

No fee or purchase is required to participate in the Pledge Contest. A purchase will not increase your chance of winning.

  1. How to Enter

To enter the Pledge Contest, you must complete an online pledge form at The online pledge form requires that you provide your full name, postal code and email address. Submission of an online pledge form constitutes an “Entry”. Three (3) unique pledge forms (Protect, Conserve and Support) are available. Only one (1) entry per pledge is permitted, but the same person may submit all three (3) pledges for a total of three (3) entries. In the event of a dispute about the identity of an entrant, the name identified on the online pledge form will be deemed the Pledge Contest entrant. Multiple submissions of the same pledge form by the same person, or from the same email address, or from the same person from a different email address, will be omitted.

All entries must be received no later than 11:59pm PST on May 31, 2016. Incomplete or late entries will be disqualified.

By entering this Pledge Contest, entrants agree to comply with and be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of BC Water & Waste Association, which are final and binding in all respects.  Failure to comply with these Official Rules may result in disqualification.

  1. Eligibility

Pledge Contest entrants must be residents of BC or Yukon at the time of entry. Entrants must provide their full name, email address and postal code on their pledge form as proof of residency. There is no age restriction.

Employees of the BC Water & Waste Association, immediate family members of an employee, or persons residing in the same household as an employee, are not eligible.

  1. Prize

Three prize certificates (approximate value of $800 each) will be awarded.

Package 1: A two-night stay in a Deluxe Slopeside Room and breakfast for two at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler

Package 2: A two-night stay and breakfast for two at the Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa

Package 3: A two-night stay for two in a Deluxe Studio Suite at the Westin Resort & Spa in Whistler

Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable. All costs and expenses associated with the winner’s receipt and use of the prize is the responsibility of the winner.

Delivery date of the prize will be within thirty (30) days from the time the BC Water & Waste Association conducts the draw and announces the Pledge Contest winners.

  1. Selection of Winners

Three (3) winners will be selected by random draw, from all eligible entries received during the Entry Period, by the administrators of the Pledge Contest within thirty (30) days after the end of the Entry Period. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. A skill testing question must be correctly answered to claim prize.

The BC Water & Waste Association or its representative will attempt to contact the selected entrant by sending an email to the address the entrant provided in the online pledge form. If the selected entrant cannot be reached or has not responded to the email within five (5) business days, or is contacted but is deemed to be ineligible in BCWWA’s sole discretion, or is unable or unwilling to comply with these rules, or declines the prize, that selected entrant will be disqualified and another entrant will be selected. With respect to any selected entry, the winner may be required to provide the BC Water & Waste Association with official photo identification.

All decisions of the BC Water & Waste Association or its authorized representatives are final and binding in all matters related to this pledge prize draw.

  1. Winners’ Publicity

Potential winners of the prize may have their name(s) publicized on the BC Water & Waste Association’s websites ( and, social media channels (,,,, and, e-newsletters, and in Watermark magazine.

  1. Winners’ Release

Winner(s) may be required to sign and return a release form that confirms compliance with these Pledge Contest rules and acceptance of the prize as offered; releasing the BC Water & Waste Association and its agents with respect to injuries, accident, loss, or damages relating to the pledge prize draw or awarding of the prize.

If the release form is not returned within two (2) business days, the prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner.

  1. Indemnification

By entering this pledge prize draw, each entrant agrees to release and hold harmless the BC Water & Waste Association and its employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives, and contractors from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind to the entrants or any other person in connection with this Pledge Contest or participation in any contest-related activities, including but not limited to personal injury, death or property damage. Each entrant agrees to fully indemnify the BC Water & Waste Association from any and all claims by third parties relating to the Pledge Contest, without limitation.

  1. Limitation of Liability

The BC Water & Waste Association and its authorized agents are not responsible for any lost, late, unintelligible/illegible, falsified, damaged, misdirected, or incomplete entries, notifications, responses, or replies. The BC Water & Waste Association is not responsible for any computer, online, software, telephone, hardware or technical malfunctions that may occur, including but not limited to malfunctions that may affect the transmission or non-transmission of an entry. The BC Water & Waste Association is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users, equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the pledge prize draw, or any technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the pledge prize draw. The BC Water & Waste Association is not responsible for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. The BC Water & Waste Association is not responsible for any problems, failures or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, providers, computer equipment, software, email, players, or browsers, on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, at any website, or due to any combination of the foregoing or otherwise. The BC Water & Waste Association and its authorized agents are not responsible for any injury or damage to an entrant’s or prospective entrant’s computer or to any computer related to or resulting from participating, attempting to participate or entering the pledge prize draw. Entrant assumes liability for injuries caused or claimed to be caused by participating in the contest, or by the acceptance, possession, use of, or failure to receive any prize.

  1. Termination, Modification and Responsibility

The BC Water & Waste Association reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to terminate the contest, in whole or in part, and/or modify, amend or suspend the contest, and/or the Pledge Contest rules in any way, at any time, for any reason without prior notice. The BC Water & Waste Association is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this contest.

  1. Social Media

This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by any social media platforms on which the contest may have been promoted and/or publicized, including but not limited to Facebook and/or Twitter.

  1. Privacy Rights

The personal information collected through the online entry form will not be sold to anyone and used only for the purposes of contacting potential contest winners.
